and lived in Unkel from 1979 until his
death in 1992. An exciting, interactive
museum with countless documents

In 2005 the Max Ernst Museum was
opened as the world’s first and only
museum dedicated to the outstanding
artist Max Ernst (1891-1976) and his
extensive OEuvre. For the first time
the work of the great Dadaist and
Surrealist can be seen in a collection at
his birthplace.
