steht unter dem Motto „Die Welt der Zahlen“
und beschäftigt sich mit dem Einfluss von Zahlen
in unterschiedlichen Disziplinen. Von Oktober bis
Dezember stehen die Herausforderungen der
Weltgesellschaft imMittelpunkt und wir betrachten
gesellschaftliche Krisen aus sozial- und geistes-
wissenschaftlicher Sicht.
Ein Highlight im Jubiläumsjahr wird zudem der
Karneval sein: Das Motto des Festausschuss
Bonner Karneval „Loss mer fiere un studiere“
wird uns dabei durch die Session begleiten.
Besonders interessant für die Bürgerinnen und
Bürger von Stadt und Region ist zudem das
geplante Sommerfest am 09. Juni 2018, bei dem
sich die Universität in ihrer ganzen Vielfalt
präsentieren wird. Den Höhepunkt des Jubiläums-
jahres stellt schließlich der Festakt zum 200-jäh-
rigen Bestehen der Universität am 18. Oktober
2018 dar. Dass wir den Bundespräsidenten für
diese Veranstaltung gewinnen konnten, freut
uns ganz außerordentlich.
Ich lade alle Bürgerinnen und Bürger herzlich

Die Bonner Universität bekommt zum Jubiläums-
jahr ein neues Logo. Das sieht deutlich moderner
aus als das vorherige. Ist das wegweisend für die
Aufstellung der Universität für die Zukunft?
Auf jeden Fall! Wir möchten unsere lange Ge-
schichte bewahren und sind stolz darauf. Doch
unser Blick ist in die Zukunft gerichtet. Mit den
aktuellen Wettbewerben wie der Exzellenz-
Another highlight of the anniversary year will be
the carnival: The motto of the official Bonn Carnival
Committee for 2018 is “Loss mer fiere un studiere”
(Let us celebrate and study) and will accompany
us throughout the session. The planned summer
fete on 9 June 2018, which will see the university
presented in all of its diversity, will also be very
interesting for the residents of the city and region.
The highlight of the anniversary year will then be
the official ceremony on 18 October 2018 celebra-
ting the 200th anniversary of the university. We are
also very pleased to have secured the visit of the
German Federal President for this event.
I cordially invite all citizens of Bonn to come and
celebrate with us and the university. All the infor-

The University of Bonn will also be getting a new
logo for the anniversary year. It looks a lot more
modern than the current logo; does it reflect the
university’s future direction?
Definitely! We are proud of our long history and
want to preserve it; however, our focus is on the
future. The current competitions such as the Excel-
lence Strategy offer us the opportunity to position
ourselves for the long term as a modern, research-
oriented elite university. We have defined six areas
of research focus in which we are national and
international leaders and intend to expand our lea-
dership during the coming years. My motivation is
to equip the university for the future, both in terms
of content as well as infrastructure: This includes
structural development as much as it does prepara-
tion for digital change.
