Rhine-Voreifel
The Rhine-Voreifel region for culture and nature lovers
Centrally located between Cologne and the Eifel, the Rhine-Voreifel region includes western Bonn. With beautiful, varied countryside, the Rhineland Nature Park is a paradise for hikers, cyclists, golfers, horseriders and nature-lovers. A large number of palaces and castles, mills that are still in operation, churches of architectural significance and relics of the Roman past await visitors to the region. For example the Roman canal hiking path runs from the Eifel to Cologne directly through the Rhine-Voreifel countryside and offers an enjoyable tour both for hikers as well as cyclists. The approx. 470 km long Wasserburgen route also goes through the region. It leads through unspoilt stream and river valleys, beautiful low mountain regions and features over 120 castles and palaces. Animal-lovers can take guided half-day or full-day tours accompanied by lamas.
You can find out more information on guided lama tours at www.hilberather-wanderlamas.de
The park in Rheinbach is the place to relax by the lake or take some exercise at the various sports facilities. Children will also feel at home on the many different playgrounds there, some with water sources.
