Beethoven-Jubiläums GmbH was founded on
01.07.2016. What are the aims and responsibilities
of this GmbH?
In a unique form of collaboration the Federal Govern-
ment, the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia,
the Rhine-Sieg district and the Federal City of Bonn
have decided to bundle their activities to prepare
and implement the Beethoven anniversary year of
2020 on the occasion of the 250th birthday of Ludwig
van Beethoven in the newly established Beethoven
Jubiläums GmbH. It is the task of the company to
coordinate the projects and programme points in
Bonn, in the Rhine-Sieg district and in North Rhine-
Westphalia, as well as the central marketing of the
anniversary year. All this will be combined via the
umbrella brand BTHVN2020, which is based on
a signature of Ludwig van Beethoven. The website
acts as the central dialogue
portal for the anniversary year.
Beethoven 2020 – this is a major opportunity for
Bonn and the region. Who are the decisive players
with whom the GmbH works? Do you also plan to
integrate the many small players into the process?
Naturally the state-promoted and freelance cultural
players are the focus of the programming. In addi-
tion, we are in contact with all the socially relevant
groups and institutions and have noticed a great
willingness to become involved creatively. However,
Beethoven cannot be restricted to just a few players.
The unique opportunity of the Beethoven anniversary
can be used by the city, the region and Federal State
as a national event with international appeal. We
are focussing on a wide range of perspectives and
formats both as far as the players involved are con-
cerned as well as the multi-layered user and visitor
groups.
What do you see as the significance of Beethoven in
general for the congress destination of Bonn and the
surrounding region?
Firstly, I see it as an opportunity to tell the whole
world – but also the people in Bonn and the region
– that Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn and
within the first 22 years developed decisively through
the influence of Bonn to become the brilliant composer
and liberal thinker, whose music has stood the test
of time. Then I see the opportunity to present the
strengths of Bonn and the region in the light of the
Beethoven anniversary. This cluster of international

scientific and educational institutions, national and

Aufgaben dieser GmbH?
In einem einzigartigen Schulterschluss haben die
Bundesregierung, das Land NRW, der Rhein-Sieg-
Kreis und die Bundestadt Bonn beschlossen, ihre
Aktivitäten zur Vorbereitung und Durch​führung
des Beethoven-Jubiläumsjahres 2020 aus Anlass
des 250. Geburtstages Ludwig van Beethovens in
der neu gegründeten Beethoven-Jubiläums GmbH
zu bündeln. Deren Aufgabe ist die Koordinierung
der Projekte und Programmpunkte in Bonn, im
Rhein-Sieg-Kreis und in NRW, sowie die zentrale
Vermarktung des Jubiläumsjahres. All dies wird
durch die Dachmarke BTHVN2020 verbunden, die
auf einer Signatur Ludwig van Beethovens beruht.

Beethoven 2020 – das ist eine große Chance für
Bonn und Region. Wer sind die maßgeblichen
Akteure, mit denen die GmbH zusammen arbeitet?
Planen Sie auch, die vielen kleinen Akteure in den
Prozess zu integrieren?
Natürlich stehen die staatlich geförderten und
freien Kulturakteure im Fokus der Programmie-
rung. Daneben stehen wir mit allen gesellschaftlich
relevanten Gruppen und Institutionen im Kontakt,
und wir spüren hier eine große Bereitschaft, sich
kreativ einzubringen. Aber Beethoven lässt sich
nicht auf einige wenige Akteure beschränken.
Die einmalige Chance des Beethoven-Jubiläums
können die Stadt, die Region und das Land als
nationalen Auftrag mit internationaler Strahlkraft
nutzen. Dabei setzen wir auf eine große Bandbreite
der Perspektiven und Formate sowohl im Sinne
der beteiligten Akteure als auch der vielschichtigen
Nutzer- und Besuchergruppen.
Worin sehen Sie die Bedeutung Beethovens
allgemein für die Kongressdestination Bonn
und Region?
Zunächst sehe ich die Chance, der ganzen Welt –
aber auch den Menschen in Bonn und der Region –
zu erzählen, dass Ludwig van Beethoven in Bonn
geboren wurde und sich in den 22 Jahren maßgeb-
lich durch den Bonner Einfluss zu dem genialen
Komponisten und Freiheitsdenker entwickelte,
dessen Musik bis heute prägend ist. Dann sehe ich
die Chance, die Stärken Bonns und der Region im
Lichte des Beethovenjubiläums zu präsentieren.
