Bergisches Land Nature Park
Nature and recreational area Bergischer Rhine-Sieg district
The area around Lohmar, Much, Neunkirchen-Seelscheid and Ruppichteroth is part of the Bergisches Land
Nature Park. The countryside here features gentle hills and valleys, linked wooded areas and romantic rivers and streams. In between, fields, hedgerows and orchards demonstrate the agricultural imprint of the region. The paths continuously lead through rustic villages and past small chapels and old wayside crosses. Drinking water reservoirs such as the Wahnbachtal dam are integrated harmoniously into the countryside and offer refuge to many animals. With its diverse landscape and beauty, the region is ideally suited to trips on foot or by bicycle. Ambitious sporty hikers will be well-catered for together with people who wish to enjoy the beauty of the peaceful countryside on short or long walks.
Various theme-based hiking paths provide information on local herbs, on the Bergische architecture and on country life as well as vegetable growing.
