Families

Families with children of all ages can experience and discover plenty in Bonn and the surrounding region. The range covers events in the museums for children and young people, pedalos on the river Sieg, boat trips on the Rhine, visits to adventure playgrounds or game reserves to trips on the narrow-gauge railway through Brohltal or on the Drachenfels Railway to castle ruins shrouded in legends: There's no time to be bored in the Bonn region.

Bicycle trips & city tours suitable for children

Various cycle routes through Bonn each with twelve interesting locations, for example the model of a Roman encampment or the weather station, can give children a greater insight into the region. Places to play or a skater track are included on the route.

And who says that city tours have to be boring - you can also discover Bonn on foot with children on a child-friendly guided city tour.

During the holidays StattReisen offers open dates for children's city tours and outside the holidays dates for group tours can be booked at any time. The tour for children lasts for about 3 hours.

Climbing fun for adults and children

Anyone who is looking for an exciting climbing adventure, should pay the BRONX ROCK indoor climbing wall a visit. It is the only climbing hall in the Rhineland to be equipped with TopStop cable brakes. This means that children can secure their parents – and of course vice versa.

If your are looking for a climbing adventure in the nature, head towards the Waldklettergarten Sankt Augustin, where you have the possibility to face the treetops.

On the move near and on the Rhine

The Rhine also offers a broad range of options for activities with children. There are amazing things to discover everywhere: If the water level is low, you can for example find flotsam and jetsam from ships that have travelled a long way on the river banks. Or you can observe the fully loaded barges that transport the most varied items along the river. Who can imagine living on board?

Learn and discover something new

All year round the Deutsches Museum Bonn offers a family area in the SchlauSpielhaus. All sizes of visitor can look forward to a fascinating trip through time from the 1950s to the present day. Natural phenomena can be described through play and learnt that way. In addition, there are exciting rallies through the Museum as well as tables for experimenting on magnetism and optics.

An equally wide-ranging and exciting family programme is offered by Museum Koenig: The programme includes workshops on how to draw animals - animals from the African savannah, storytelling for example on the subject: Do dragons really exist?, and family tours such as a trip round the Earth.

Nature lovers

At the Youth farm nature and animals come even closer. Here children learn how to assume responsibility for animals and nature and they can look after animals, feed them, stroke them, build camps, make things, paint, do handicrafts and much more.

Recreational park

Phantasialand offers unforgettable experiences for the entire family. The theme park in Brühl has always emphasised a balanced mixture of attractions. Even those visitors who do not enjoy the fast-paced steep rides and wild corners, can find something here.

Summer programme

For children and young people who want to experience something exciting during the summer holidays at home, there is a diverse Holiday programme run by the City of Bonn. The scheme includes events on various topics such as nature, history, media, sport or art and is so varied that there is something interesting to suit every taste. The events are organised as daily events, workshops over several days or a weekly programme by the Bonn museums, other cultural establishments, associations as well as children's and young people's institutions funded by the city or external funding bodies.
