A long night of partying between Petersberg and Löwenburg: 20 live acts play in 16 participating locations in Bad Honnef, Koenigswinter and 3 shuttle busses from 8 to 12 pm. Afterwards there is an after-show party in the Maritim-Bar in Koenigswinter.

Balloon Festival

One weekend in June the skies of Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district will again be the stage for numerous hot-air balloons. Balloon teams from Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands will participate in this balloon festival in Bonn Rheinaue. The visitors can watch the construction of giant balloons and have the opportunity to take a ride in a hot air balloon. In addition, there will be other attractions and an interesting and varied program for the whole family.

Beethoven Festival

August 31st - September 23th 2018

Every year in late summer between the beginning of September and the start of October Beethoven's city of Bonn welcomes top international orchestras, major ensembles, famous soloists and the next generation of promising artists. Many musicians regularly do come back to present programs at the Beethoven Festival, which were developed exclusively for this Festival. With this profile, the Beethoven Festival has established itself in the international music festival scene.

Carnival

February 08th - 13th 2018

Bonn represents one of the Rhine carnival highlights. Almost a full week during February/March you will hear exclamations of Alaaf! and Kamelle! in Bonn. The carnival in Bonn is colourful, fun and diverse!

It all starts On Women's Carnival Day (Weiberfastnacht)! The washerwomen storm the Beuel town hall and the jesters celebrate at parties and in taverns in the centre of Beuel. Women's Carnival Day has its origins in Bonn-Beuel: In 1824 the first women's committee was established in Beuel. It resulted from a women's movement. The washerwomen from Beuel rose up against the patriarchy, the dominance of men and the associated exploitation of women. Therefore the custom of the washerwomen to meet once every year - namely on the Thursday before the carnival - to revolt against their husbands began 190 years ago.

On carnival Sunday the jesters storm Bonn town hall - a colourful spectacle with people in uniform, horses and canons.

The highlight of the carnival is the procession on Carnival Monday, at which approximately 80 floats and thousands of jesters in costume take part. Over 240,000 spectators watch the colourful spectacle and collect lots of sweets.

Cherry Blossom Bonn Altstadt

April/May 2018

Every spring people are able to observe a very special natural event in the creative craft and civil city quarter of Bonn called Altstadt. Innumerable cherry trees unfold their full bloom, transforming the narrow roads into a pink seas of flowers. The alleys are turned into an amazing tunnel of cherry blooms. This breathtaking view and stunning sight has already made a top ten landing among the Internet Hit-List of the most beautiful tree tunnels.

For eight years now Print & Paint has been organizing the Cherry Blossom Photo Contest. The Tourismus & Congress GmbH supports the competition in addition, by sponsoring a prize for the best Bonn cherry blossom photo.

Christmas markets

Gingerbread and mulled wine give off their enticing aromas once again at the Christmas markets in the centre of Bonn and in the region. When it's cold and dark outside, the pre-Christmas stalls transform the squares into small Christmas villages.

The Bonn Christmas market in the city centre sparkles every year with colourful lights and attracts thousands of visitors.

The aroma of mulled wine, baked apples and potato pancakes hangs in the air and many stands entice people to linger and taste what is on offer. There are cribs, handicrafts, ceramic goods, jewellery, articles make of wood, advent accessories, leather goods and textiles as well as bees' wax candles directly from the beekeeper and much more. Handicrafts in particular are well-represented here. With 170 stall holders everyone is bound to find something as a Christmas present. Bonn Christmas market also has plenty to offer on the culinary front: This ranges from freshly smoked salmon, gingerbread hearts, mulled wine to chocolate fruit with something to suit everyone's taste.

Only a few kilometres away from Bonn, on the market dating back to the Middle Ages in Siegburg, visitors can see a completely different Christmas market. In an authentic city of stalls dating back to the Middle Ages, jugglers, players and craftsmen show off their skills.

Anyone who prefers a romantic atmosphere, should definitely visit the market in Ahrweiler. In the heart of the red wine metropolis, which is completely surrounded by a city wall from the Middle Ages, the Christmas market is an inviting place to spend some time.

The Saint Nicholas market takes place in Bad Godesberg every year. After a walk around the market with its many stalls and stands, you can then fortify yourself with traditional food and a glass of mulled wine in a cosy, relaxed atmosphere.

Deutsche - Post - Marathon

The Marathon Bonn is one of the ten biggest running events in Germany. On the route the participants run around the city of Bonn, along the Rhine bank and pass by quite a few interesting sights. The course is a challenge for marathon runners, half-marathon-runners, walkers, inline skaters and hand cyclists. An easier and fun way to take part in the event is the marathon relay - especially popular among companies who take it as a team-event. The school marathon is a relay-option especially for school children as of grade 5. For good atmosphere along the course does the band marathon takes care of. Bands from Bonn and the region demonstrate their musical skills. At the Premium Food Festival in downtown Bonn different premium caterer spoil visitors with various dishes.

Green Juice Festival

Every year since 2008 the public park in Bonn's suburb Neu-Vilich hosts this rockmusic festival. Entrance fees are low and any kind of bands - ranking from newcomers to established bands - can be met. During eleven hours – from 12:00 pm to 23:00 pm – they offer a varied program on two stages.

Internationale Stummfilmtage Bonn

The 32nd International silent movies will present silent movies with live piano music. Besides newly restored classics of silent movies are also many unknown movies to rediscover. Admission is free.

Kultur im Hof

For more than ten years the series of events in Himmeroder Hof in Rheinbach are a summer cultural highlight with a special flair. Rock, pop, country, jazz, folk and oldies - friends of different kinds of music will be entertained very well. In addition to the given events, there is a new event called Literature in Time, which rounds off the program.
