Sterntor City Gate

The Sterntor city gate at the edge of Bottlerplatz provides reminders of Bonn's fortifications in the Middle Ages.

It consists of the remainder of Bonn's old city wall and observers can imagine how imposing the city fortifications must have been in the Middle Ages. The original Sterntor from the 13th century stood a few metres from its current site. In 1898 it was pulled down to accommodate the increasing traffic in the city. The current Sterntor has therefore moved to its new location and incorporates the remains of the original.
