Naturregion Sieg
Relaxation and culture in the region around the river Sieg
The natural region of Sieg close to Bonn is an open valley along the river Sieg, which snakes through a largely unspoilt landscape of meadows from the Windecker Ländchen until it flows into the Rhine.
Regardless of whether it's Siegburg, Hennef, Eitorf or Windeck, every place is extremely hospitable. The towns along the Sieg are seeped in history and stories, modern leisure facilities, historic sites, nature conservation areas and simply picturesque locations. Here you can easily combine culture with relaxation and family outings offer something for everyone. The Siegtal valley from Windeck to Siegburg can be discovered by Shanks' pony or by bicycle.
The Sieg nature trail also offers sheer hiking enjoyment for over 160 km. Impressive river landscapes and beautiful views can be found along one of the most varied countryside paths.
Animal-lovers will also not be short-changed on the Sieg. The species protection project to re-establish previously native migratory fish is very important here. Nowhere else in Germany do as many salmon return to their native streams as along the Sieg. In order to emphasise this development, two new projects have been established on the Sieg. One is the Visitor and Information Centre Wissenshaus Wanderfische
and the other is a new fish farm.
