Where the great composer saw the light of day

Ludwig van Beethoven is the most famous son of the City, which still feels closely associated with the world-famous composer today. His birthplace has been one of Bonn's landmarks for a long time, every year approximately 100,000 visitors come to the house that has been turned into a museum in Bonngasse 20. Ludwig van Beethoven was born there in December 1770. The house is the only preserved residence of the Beethoven family and is largely in its original condition.

Beethoven's life and works

The Beethoven-Haus is also a Beethoven-Museum and houses the world's largest Beethoven collection. More than 150 original documents and exhibits illustrate Ludwig van Beethoven's life and works. In the historic adjacent house Im Mohren the digital Beethoven-Haus offers an innovative, interactive visitor experience.In the Studio for Digital Collections, visitors can navigate through all documents using multimedia. The stage for music visualisation converts the house's historic arched cellar into an overall work of art composed of music and the virtual world.

The Chamber Music Hall has developed - since its opening in 1989 - into an important venue for a wide variety of events (concerts, conferences, special celebrations). The varied program appeals to many music lovers.

Opening hours:

Museum
Wednesday to Monday 10 am - 6 pm (last admission at 5:30 pm),
on Tuesdays, the museum opens exclusively for pre-booked groups.

The museum is also closed on: New Year's Day, Mardi Gras, Shrove Monday, from 24 to 26 December and New Year's Eve.

Treasury
The treasury is open Wednesday to Monday 11:30 am - 3:30 pm.
Outside these times, the treasury can only be visited as part of a guided tour.
