Six of the 14 federal ministries still have their main offices in Bonn. About 260 associations and 20 federal authorities populate the political destination and form a close network. As a result of the period of government, the region has a high level of skills in the conference industry in the areas of local public transport, the hotel trade and services for conferences. The history of the Bonn Republic can be experienced in many authentic locations in the Bonn region. Villa Hammerschmidt or the former Plenary Cham- ber can be viewed and the Haus der Geschichte presents German post-war history in a permanent interactive exhibition. Petersberg Federal Guest House, Konrad-Adenauer-Haus or the government bunker provide exciting insights into the region.
